At Pembridge Hall there is a studio dedicated to Drama and students from Kindergarten to Year 6 feel transported as soon as they enter the environment.
Here are all the trappings of the theatre: racks full of costumes, props, masks, puppets, lights and scenery which transforms Drama lessons into special events.
Drama is very much part of the school’s life blood. In any given week you may find Kindergarten making clothes for Babar using improvisational skills, Year 1 riding bumblebees to save a lost crystal, Year 2 helping Orlando the cat tend a farm in autumn and winter, Year 3 creating a market place in Ancient Rome, Year 4 rehearsing a performance poem, Year 5 improvising with superheroes and sound effects and Year 6 interviewing each other in gobbledegook.
Every year group has the chance to perform for their parents within the duration of the school year, in the form of class assemblies, Christmas celebrations, Easter Parades and year group plays. In Year 5 short playlets are performed at the end of year whilst in Year 6 the girls perform a much-anticipated full length play in a theatre, eagerly watched by parents, staff and pupils.
